What makes art truly valuable? Its aesthetic appeal? The message it carries? Its impact in the world?

Does anyone care about the art anymore? Or are the wealthy only concerned about provenance and collectability?

In accordance to Banksy's vision, we aim to expose this pretentious hypocrisy.

An artist myself, joined by a fellow Banksy enthusiast from Norway and an art curator from the states, we decided to conduct an experiment.

Similar to MSCHF's Andy Warhol "Fairies", and Picasso's "Poisson",

We present "The missing balloon".

In 2023, we acquired a "Girl with balloon" (~70x50cm, Edition of 600, circa 2004) for £80k ($97k USD) from a private British collector.

The exact number of the print was erased and the CoA was locked and sealed to conceal the trail of provenance.

After studying the print for weeks, we replicated the screen print to a nearly perfect extend. When the art curator in our midst could not tell the real from the replicas, 299 imitations were created.

By replicating the print and concealing the provenance, all 300 prints are rendered equal. Any of the 300 people could have the initially original, but there is no way to tell.

Which begs the question, are they ALL by Banksy or is NONE by Banksy?

In the summer of 2024, 300 people will be randomly selected from the email list to buy a print.

Any additional information will be provided only to those selected.
